And now… for more information

The getaway would be a weekend in February (possibly Feb 20-22, if that works for everyone). We would gather Friday night at the cabin, and leave Sunday after breakfast. Anyone with a 9-5 wouldn’t need any additional days off.

Broken Bow is not quite 3 hours from Dallas. Making it far enough away from the city to get into the woods, but not so far we would spent more time in the car than at the cabin. Also, cabin options closer to DFW are absolutely nothing compared to Broken Bow.

Amenities

These cabins have everything! This isn’t camping in the woods with no running water. These are fully-furnished and beautiful. Most have hot tubs, fire pits, and lots more! You can browse the group cabins here and check out everything they have to offer on the amenities tab.

Meals & Supplies

Mended Bow – Sleeps 10

Cabins come stocked with starter supplies, and not much else. We will need to bring all food, coffee, and items such as paper towels, extra toilet paper, hand soap, etc.

Star can procure groceries and cook group meals. Additionally, Star’s Event Manager Resume is below if you’d like to peruse. She has managed beach houses on the water in Virginia Beach before and yes, there will be cinnamon rolls in the morning.

Here is the group meal breakdown:

  • Friday Night Dinner
  • Saturday Breakfast
  • Saturday Easy Lunch or Lunch On Your Own
  • Saturday Dinner
  • Saturday Night Snack (like gourmet popcorn for movie night or s’mores at the firepit)
  • Sunday Farewell Breakfast

We can also stop at Costco and grab snacks and drinks for the house before heading up as well to round out the available food.

Star will create a menu in advance of the trip (probably well in advance, let’s not kid ourselves), and submit it to the group. Suggestions for changes or additions are welcome. Anyone with dietary needs or strong preferences are encouraged to relay them as soon as possible. It is absolutely not a problem to create a menu everyone will enjoy. If anything, Star enjoys figuring out how to make it all work together.

Also, Star will need sous chefs. Please come prepared to help in the kitchen or offer up one of your group as sacrifice. People willing to go to the grocery store should an ingredient run out are also appreciated.

Cabin Pricing

Silver Dollar Lodge – Sleeps 16

Pricing will depend on what what cabin we reserve which will depend on how many people we have and what kind of bed configuration the available cabins have.

For example, say we have 7 people decide they want to come on this trip and we reserve Mended Bow, which has 3 king beds and 2 twins.

The website is showing Mended Bow can be reserved for $1,334.02 during Feb 20-22. Here is the breakdown:

  • $1,334.02 – Total cost
  • $381.14 – Per couple
  • $190.57 – Per person
  • $95.29 – Per person per night

There is a Discounts and Specials page on the site, so I will be checking that for deals (there is one for first time cabin rental). Hopefully we can save some money there. We do need to account for taxes and other fees that might not be factored into the price the website is displaying.

Meals & Supplies Pricing

Rough estimating for meals, especially right now, is always difficult. However, $70 per person should cover all the food for the weekend. Everyone can also bring some ingredients from home and Star will be cooking/baking from scratch, which always helps save money.

No one request lobster for dinner, though.

Total Possible Cost Estimate

Mountain Time – Sleeps 14

This is a rough estimate, but let’s put everything together and look at the total weekend cost for a couple:

  • $381.14 – Cabin cost for two
  • $140 – Food cost for two
  • $521.14 – Total with lodging and meals for two people

Things to do in Broken Bow

Didn’t have to look far to find a list here! Check out this guide located on the cabin rental website:

Tripadvisor also has a list of things to do in Broken Bow.

Important to Keep in Mind

It is key to note, we are going to the cabin in February. Some things to do around town will likely be closed as they hinge on warm weather. Also, there is a chance the weather might not agree with us at all. We could come to Broken Bow and end up there on a rainy weekend.

However, this is why we are staying in a luxury cabin.

Even if we couldn’t leave the property, we would have plenty to do at the cabin and more than enough room to spread out and enjoy ourselves. Bring books, bring board games, convince everyone Star should finally write the mystery mystery dinner theatre of her dreams. And yes, Dan, there’s still a hot tub. Whether it’s raining or not, we can find a lot of things to do together!
