I remember reading an article about domestic violence in teen dating relationships in a late 90s magazine aimed at high schoolers. In one of the blocks, it addressed questions, such as; should one forgive if their boyfriend hits them, but swears it was a mistake and promises to never do it again.
The response was, “You can forgive him… if you feel like it.”
